A career girl who had never baked a cake, I fell into this world after having children. At first I thought that the repetitive drudgery of homemaking tasks was going to send me mad.

I still hate much of it (hoovering, laundry etc.) But I've found that some corners of the domestic sphere are joy-bringing, and I  have become bolder and more ambitious - and better at appreciating the good bits - as time has gone on. 

Some joys have been a rediscovery, like knitting or sewing,  others have needed new skills like marzipan wrangling and wallpapering.

I hope that some of the ideas here are fun or inspiring.
